Havana, this splendid city in the Carribean doused with political history and culture like no other, is opened up for an insight into Havana life with this project by photographer Kane Hulse. Focusing on the Cuban capitals wide array of colour alongside abstract shapes provided in abundance by a variety of forms from architecture to people, Hulse’s sun washed images shot on film create a timeless document of Havana in hardcover book, limited to an edition of 500 copies. Havana was exhibited in a show at Patrick Grant's E.Tautz Mayfair store.
Hulse reflects this beautifully courageous city through imagery as one of the worlds great locations from a period to be looked upon with tremendous interest. Throughout the 92 page book released by Never Been Publishing, shape & colour from every aspect of Havana culture come together to sit visually alongside each other. Images poetically combine from colour clad fighters gazing at the boxing ring to painting like shots of candy pink buildings against emerald blue sky to brutalist inspired takes on concrete telephone stands.
